Jade Moffat graduated with a Bachelor of Music in advanced performance from the
Queensland Conservatorium in 2012, whilst also being a member of Opera Queensland’s
Developing Artist Program.
Jade has been the recipient of many awards and scholarships including: the IFAC Australian Singing Competition’s Marianne Mathy Scholarship, the Joan Sutherland Memorial Vocal Scholarship, finalist in the McDonalds Aria Competition, the Opera and Arts Scholarship, and the Herald Sun Aria Competition (all in 2013). Jade has also been the recipient of the Nelly Apt Scholarship, the David Harper Prize, and Linda Edith Allen Undergraduate and Postgraduate scholarships (QCGU).
Jade has performed the role of Fenena in IFAC’s production of Verdi’s Nabucco, the role of Mrs Nolan in Menotti’s The Medium for the IVAI in Israel, Principessa in Puccini’s Suor
Angelica for QCGU, and understudied the role of Tisbe in Rossini’s Cinderella for Opera
Queensland. In recent times Jade has been the mezzo-soprano soloist for productions of
Mozart’s Requiem, Verdi’s Requiem, Durufle’s Requiem, Handel’s Saul, Beethoven’s
Symphony No. 9, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Dixit Dominus, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Bottesini’s
Messa da Requiem.
In 2014 Jade is therecipient of the Dame Nellie Melba Scholarship with the Melba Opera
Trust. She has just understudied the role of Kate Pinkerton in Opera Australia’s Madama
Butterfly, and makes her debut with Opera Queensland as Diane in Philip Glass’s The Perfect American later this year.
