Julia Malczewski obtained both a Bachelor of Music Degree and a Post-Graduate Diploma of Music in Vocal Studies from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, 1996. Since graduating, Julia has participated frequently in nationwide competitions and was selected as a finalist in the Opera Foundation’s German Operatic Award for 2004, was semi-finalist in the City of Melbourne Song Recital Award for both 1998 and 1999, and winner of the ‘People’s Prize’ in the Dame Joan Sutherland Award, 2001. During 2002, Julia participated in the Advanced Performance Program at the Australian National Academy of Music, Melbourne. Julia has sung for Opera Queensland, for OzOpera Sydney and is currently engaged with Opera Australia. Recent overseas tuition includes several months study in Rome, Italy, where she studied with Ms Margaret Baker-Genovesi. Julia also maintains a very successful career on the concert platform as soloist performing works by Handel, Haydn and Orff and performing regularly with the Queensland Pops Orchestra.
